That moment you are excited to share something small and halfway through you notice they do not care

Discussion

This weekend I saw a slashing games on TikTok and somehow got a fluffy hat for free. I was actually kind of excited about it, like a small win in an otherwise boring weekend. Later when I saw my best friend, I started telling her, “Do you remember that link I sent you this weekend? Guess what I ended up getting for free?” and before I even finished, I realized she was not really listening. She was looking down at her phone, throwing out those automatic “Ah...nice” responses, and I am pretty sure she never even opened the link. I could feel my voice getting quieter and quieter as I kept talking.

I ended up just stopping mid story, switching the topic and pretending it did not matter. It was not about the game or the hat at all. It made me realize how quickly I close off as soon as I feel the other person is not actually listening. Anyone else do that and then feel like, okay, I will just keep most things to myself.
