I think melasma (often) looks good and adds character to a face
Ok hear me out!
I know its a sign of sun damage which brings other problems - cancer most obviously, and also wrinkles + dehydration, none of which we want. But specifically with melasma, I personally think it looks good and I dont want to get rid of it.
Often when I see dermatologist influencers, I admire their skin health - little texture and wrinkles etc, but the face looks quite "flat" or lacks depth and character because the tone is so even I guess.
I think melasma, both freckles and more severe, makes the face come alive in a way. I know this is a hot take though - does anyone here feel the same way? or why do you want to get rid of it?
Btw I have it myself (age 30) on my philtrum, cheeks and forehead 🍵 i use SPF and think its hormonal / genetic perhaps
