Proton vs. IMRT radiation

I was recently diagnosed with Nasophrynx Cancer (T2, N2, Mx). I was able to get an appointment for an Proton Radiation consultation at the only hospital in my area that has Proton Therapy available. But I might need to switch my care over (still in the initial phases - just finishing up scans and would be meeting my medical oncologist and radiation oncologist at my current hospital). Just curious, has anyone done Proton, and were there side-effects significantly better than staying at my current Cancer Center where they only have IMRT? Worried about pushing the treatments back by 1-2 weeks to go with Proton and worried about the delay causing further spread/metasis of my cancer.
