USA tourist visas?

Has anyone successfully applied for USA tourist visas lately? I'm a multi national of the UK, Italy and Pakistan but I feel that they're extremely strict in the US and may view having multiple nationalities negatively. I've never been to the US before but would love to take my kids for a few weeks. I'm worried I'd spend a lot of money on the holiday and if they didn't grant entry I'd have no recourse.
