where can I look for my recording?
Several months ago I made a recording on my Pixel.
I am 100% sure I opened the recording app and that it was recording.
Now, when I look for the recording, it is gone.
- I've tried switching between the different Google accounts registered on the phone. Only the main account has any recordings. It's not there.
- I've tried "Use without an account". It's not there.
- I've checked https://recorder.google.com. It's not there.
- I'm sure I have no other recorder app on my phone, I've only ever used the stock Google Recorder app.
I've tested the app in various ways to try and simulate how I could've lost the recording.
- If I start a recording and pause it, and never name it, and force close the app, Google Recorder still saves the file.
- Same if I restart the phone with a recording paused.
I'm 99% sure I explicitly gave the recording a descriptive name, and thus it should have definitely been saved, but in all my tests, even if I don't explicitly stop and save the recording, Google Recorder will still save whatever recording I made.
This was a super important recording. I'm heartbroken by its loss. I'm sure I recorded it. I'm sure I didn't delete it, intentionally or accidentally. No one else has access to my phone. I rarely open the Recorder app.
It seems crazy that this could happen in the modern era, especially since the Recorder app syncs to the Google cloud under your account.
Anyone have any ideas where else I could look? Maybe somewhere in the file system? I do have FX file browser installed.
