Getting Faster

I just completed a piano tech course. I feel pretty confident about my skills except for the fact that my tunings take really long. A grand that need a routine tuning takes 2.5 hrs. That is my record speed. An upright that is a semitone flat will take around four hours.

Is this normal for a beginner? My classmates can complete a tuning in around an hour. My teacher can tune two pianos in an hour.

Does anyone have any advice on how to increase my speed? My teacher just says “get faster.” I feel like my muscles are moving as fast as they can go.

If I had to diagnose the problem, maybe it takes longer to get the tuning to the right pitch, particularly when doing unisons. Does anyone have any tips for tuning lever technique? I watched videos on YouTube and read my textbook. It looks like I’m doing everything right, but I’m not getting fast enough results.
