I went to my local SSA office with my parent around 8:50 AM this morning because we’re trying to get SSA earnings credits corrected and ask questions about Medicare.

I had already called the federal SSA number last week, but they couldn’t fix it and specifically told us to go to the field office in person, so we went as instructed.

Before we even got inside the building, an SSA employee walked up and immediately barked at us to “take a photo of the appointment numbers and leave.” No greeting, no questions, no explanation—just dismissed us without letting us speak.

When I tried to clarify what we were there for politely, he cut me off and said, “That’s not true.” It came across as confrontational and completely inappropriate. At that point, I said he was not being helpful, and he responded by calling me rude, telling me to leave, and then added, “I’ll remember you when you come back.” That comment felt totally unprofessional and, honestly, a bit threatening.

As a former federal employee, I always took pride in being a public servant and in treating taxpayers with respect. This interaction was the complete opposite of that.

I’m genuinely shocked this individual is allowed to interact with the public. This kind of behavior should not be acceptable, and I honestly believe this employee should be removed from their position.

Where do I formally file a complaint about a specific SSA employee or office?

Thanks in advance for any advice.
