Allergic to inisitol and doctors deny Metformin bc I'm not fat. I'm at a dead end for my IR.
I used to be morbidly overweight but I've been maintaining healthy range for 5 years due to my extreme diet (zero sugar low GI gluten free Mediterranean diet, 1500 cals a day)
However, I still face food noise, unstable energy levels (random weakness), severe cravings and reactive hypoglycemia (migraines, weakness) after certain foods. All classic symptoms of IR.
My blood sugar test is currently normal but I used to be prediabetic before loss.
Recently I tried inisitol (40:1 ratio, 4000mg), I broke into bad hives. I also tried berberine (500mg/day), and it kept making me throw up even when I pressed on for 4 weeks.
Currently I'm only on BC (Co-cyprindol, an antiandrogenic high E pill). But I'm still breaking out in acne and don't bleed during my pill free weeks (I'm absolutely not pregnant because I've been testing frantically for months)
My gynecologist refuses to do anything. She says I'm having a normal amount of acne (my acne used to be severe). And I am healthy weight.
She also refuses to order further tests. I've been looking for 3rd party insulin/A1C tests but I can't seem to find any in my country (France)
I think I've exhausted all my options for managing my weight and blood sugar without a doctor. My relatives are concerned I'm developing an eating disorder but my diet is really all that's keeping me from gaining everything back :(
I also looked into CGMs to collect data to help my case, but CGMs are only available through prescription and only with a diabetes diagnosis.
I've also looked into strength training but I'm really weak due to muscle atrophy from previous eating disorders PLUS I have endometrosis, and heavy exercise triggers pain and cramps.
Does anybody have any ideas for me?
