RAMQ covers medication but my private insurance does not. How to proceed?

I'm covered under the Federal Public Service Health Care Plan (Canada Life). Unfortunately, it doesn't cover the iron (pills and infusions) that I need to survive. RAMQ covers it. Legally, I know the private insurance should cover everything RAMQ does, but apparently this specific private insurance can bypass that somehow...

Has anyone faced this before? Can RAMQ cover you for a specific medication only?
