How can I 31F handle breaking up with my 24M boyfriend during Christmas?
So basically me, 31F and my 24M boyfriend have been together for almost a year. We are long distance and things have been kind of difficult to in my opinion, but he sees things through rose glasses and isn’t understanding my issues I bring up, and keeps acting like things are okay between us. I give him the benefit of the doubt and see that sometimes he does try to address my concerns and make changes to work on the problems at hand. But he’s very naïve, and I’ve noticed there’s a massive maturity difference.
About 2 weeks ago it kind of clicked with me that I don’t want to be with him anymore.
Here’s where my question comes into play. About 3+ months ago I mentioned possibly wanting go out to where he lives for Christmas with my child. Well he immediately went and told his whole family that I would be coming. Even though I only said I was possibly thinking about it. I also have a 9 year old child, who his family is also including in this Christmas idea.
That being said at the time I didn’t really have plans to break off the relationship, and still enjoyed our time together, but as it’s drawing closer and closer I am noticing some things that he does that is extremely selfish, rude, or that he just is so inexperienced to the real world. He also keeps talking about wanting more kids, and I keep insisting I don’t want more kids, I’m 31 with a 9 year old, I want to live my life too at some point.
Well, now we are at a point where I want to break up, but I don’t want to do it until after Christmas, because my child’s Christmas is now dependent on making the trip. All of her presents are there, as this has been planned for 3+ months. And I didn’t have a back up Christmas plan. We also don’t have family this year, which is why I considered going down there.
Now I just feel bad, and I don’t know what to do, or how to handle this situation, I mostly don’t want to disappoint my daughter.
