Invisalign newbie - positive experience

Treatment Start

Hi everyone!

I started my Invisalign journey today!

I hab braces as a teenager but after some time the retainer in the upper jaw was getting loose all the time due to too much pressure. I was lazy and didn’t care about it, my teeth moved of course. I got some gaps that bother me.

Unfortunately I had a terrible year with my fiancé being terminally ill and dying. I was his sole caregiver. Now, some months later I decided to do something good for me and started Invisalign. Sorry for the long story…

I got attachments and my first set of trays (1/14) today. I was freaking out the last weeks because I was so afraid, especially of getting IPR. The appointment today was easy and fast! The only thing that bothered me was lying with my head down for so long, haha. My orthodontist patiently answered all my questions about IPR and reassured me. They did it in two places and it was fast and not unpleasant at all! The assistant used a small strip file (non electric) and was working very carefully. I heard the filing noise but it wasn’t cringeworthy. I didn’t hurt at all. I have the trays now for four hours and all I feel is a light pressure, no strong discomfort.

I am curious how this journey continues, if it’s going to hurt or I’ll get the urge to rip them out sometime. xD Right now I am just happy and relieved!! :)
