6 year old claims she has no friends
A bit of background, we have had a lot of changes recently. In August we had a baby, in September we moved and one of our cats passed away. Early November we transferred 6yo to a new school within our new district.
At first, 6yo said the kids at school were nice to her and treated her like she had always been there. She even said she immediately made new friends! Fast forward to now, she comes home sort of sad and says things about how she has nobody to play with, no one lets her play with them, and she said she wants some friends. We reached out to the teacher who was baffled because she said she sees 6yo playing with other kids all the time.
When we ask how her day was, she will tell us it was fine and she played alone, but it wasnt her choice. When I ask if there is anything making her feel sad, she says no, just that the kids wont play with her.
i feel so bad and want her to be happy at school but I'm not sure what the problem is. The teacher suggested having 6yo speak with a school counselor or somebody to see if they can get to the bottom of it.
does anybody have any ideas what the problem could be, or how to help? She misses her old friends but we don't live near them anymore. Play dates are hard to schedule, too, but we have tried.
