Rotator cuff injury from job

I am an ultrasound tech and have a shoulder injury currently. Doctor thinks it’s a possible rotator cuff tear. Pain with any kind of force/pressure/reaching in the front of the shoulder and on the lateral side. Pretty much have a constant deep ache felt in the front part. Currently waiting on an MRI to be approved by Workmans comp. I was given a steroid pack and muscle relaxers one week ago. Range of motion seems slightly better and pain not as excruciating but definitely still there. Obviously I know MRI will give me answers but just looking for similar stories or advice. I am scared of a tear and surgery at this point. I love my job and want to get back to it, but can’t really see the light at the end of the tunnel right now with the pain.
