Job “On Hold” After Interview — Is This Normal? Need Advice.
Hi everyone, I’m an international student in Germany, about to finish my masters this semester. I recently interviewed for a full-time risk/controls role in financial services. I had two interviews last week, and the team told me they would update me by early this week.
When I didn’t hear anything, I politely emailed HR for an update. They quickly replied saying that the role is currently on hold and that their team will get back to me.
However, on the application portal, the job now shows “Position no longer available,” but my candidacy is not marked rejected.
This has confused me a lot.
My question: Does “on hold” usually mean the role is temporarily paused due to internal reasons, or is it typically a silent rejection?
Thanks in advance.
