Forcing the use of in-app nav in Chicago market

Old man shouting at the clouds

Lyft, why do you insist that we only use in-app navigation when you know that the app cannot keep the GPS signal in the downtown (Loop) area, and take away the options of Google Maps and Waze?

Are we to assume that as Independent Contractors, you want us to only use company supplied tools (nav software) instead of the ones we bring to the gig? Regardless if they can accomplish the task of delivering riders safely to their destination. Right up to the time the app loses GPS signal and cannot give the preferred turn-by-turn audio directions.

Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't the requirement of exclusively using company-supplied tools fall more within the purview of control in an Employer-Employee relationship. It sure looks like it when you prevent us from using our preferred navigation tools (app, software). As demonstrated by the configuration of the Driver App and any workarounds found by app users.

It sure looks like you want me to either end the ride as soon at your tool breaks, or cause brand damage by asking the rider for the destination and inputting it into Google Maps or Waze, to successfully navigate that last mile.
