Wanted good food in Vail… Got expired pasta, bed bugs & animal cruelty 😭
So I’m going to Vail soon and was planning to stay at The Westin or The Hythe. I used to cook professionally, so I wanted to stay there mostly for the food but I still have a habit of checking public health/food inspection reports for places I might stay or eat. 😅
Soooo… I looked up the reports for both places (and other hotels around the area) and a couple things got me grossed out (already cooked food was being served past the expiration/preparation date including pasta which is 🤦🏻♀️, dishes not being washed in sanitizer (just water), hand washing sinks not accessible to people handling food, raw meat touching other food like bread and cooked meats, one location had repeat issues and re-inspections which is a really bad sign lol). I am also annoyed since I’d expect more from hotels that charge as much as they do. Well, naturally I started looking for other options but then found reviews and articles talking about people dealing with bed bugs and a few other sites mentioned some animal cruelty issues with Marriott hotels in general.
🪦 So…I’m kinda back to square one on where to stay but also since a lot of places are already booked (my fault for procrastinating). 🙃
Any recs for clean, reliable places in Vail (NOT Marriott locations 🤢)? I am open to literally anything that’s well kept and not super far from the village. Thanks!
