What's happening?
For anyone who cares: $open is slowly turning into an institutional investment. At one point it was a retail stock. Which is the reason why its considered a meme stock. Retail is slowly being pushed out and institutions are taking in shares at lower and lower prices. Estimated ownership for institutions is about 40%. Estimated ownership for retail is 35% and then 25% insiders. If you compare that to the estimates of ownership with carvana currently is roughly 95% is owned by institutions and 3% retail and 2%insiders. Back in March of 2023 the estimates were 70% institutions, 25% retail and 5% insider. (Disclaimer, These are estimates made from AI.) I am not sure how you analyze this data. I take this as an obvious sign of manipulation from connected institutions selling and buying shares. The only explanation on how to to do this is to have the ability to sell shares at a coordinated price (a higher price and right now it appears to be the 7.60-7.75 range) target then buy back the shares at a lower price which appears to be 6.95 to 7.10 range. It has to be coordinated for it to work. With roughly 35% retail ownership, holding shares does not do anything. Retail has to continue to buy the dips for it to slow down. That is currently happening due to the stock having higher lows. The problem is that retail will eventually get fatigued and will sell at the higher highs. They will at some point decide to buy those shares at the higher price point and it will be coordinated. That will be at a time where the shift in ownership will be 55% institutions 20% retail and 25% insiders. The question will be: Will you be one of those retailers? My guess is no you won't. You will sell once it hits 10 to 13. At that point the manipulation will continue, just at different price points. The other solution to this is for the stock to go full meme! I hate to say it but that is the only way to stop the manipulation. $open will need to have retail buy and hold the stock and take back ownership. If 1 million people bout 1,000 that would shift the price about 15%. Imagine a million people putting in 10,000. That will mean that it has to go full meme!
