Not feeling so peace and love right now
lately I feel alienated from a portion the reddit community here. I have MS, which is an autoimmune disease. And I also take medication that nerfs my immune system in a certain way. and so I deeply sympathize with anyone who feels the need to wear a mask. I definitely don't live in a hole and I don't wear mask all the time, but that's a risk I'm taking. Any illness that triggers my immune system can trigger my autoimmune disease that actually hurts my brain neurons. So it's not the cold viruses themselves I'm worried about y'know? It's not gonna happen most of the time but it's not predictable.
It makes me uncomfortable that we would even be talking about anyone's choices at all with regards to masking. And imo, it's reasonable to feel anxious around coughing people, if you have an autoimmune disease for reasons I mentioned above.
So the problem with Taylor lorenz is not the masking. and I wish the reddit community here would leave that out of the conversation. It just feels like she's successfully world building that we're some weird anti mask community, and I don't want that for us at all. She makes me uncomfortable with her conclusions (everything is so exaggerated and only loosely based in reality for her), but some of y'all are really making me uncomfortable too.
