Why do recruiters always insist on calling?

I’m currently trying to look for a new job as my current one sucks.

Almost all the recruiters insist on calling me. I’ve spoken to one 3 times and she still calls and leaves a VM and never sends an email.

I work in the office 9-5 of course I am not going to be able to answer your call 90% of the time. I almost accidentally listened to the VM out loud in the office which would have been a disaster.

I get it for the first contact as you want to make sure the person you are speaking to exists and can hold a conversation. But please just send me an email!
