Are we going to replace Lan with Fibre Optic connection on routers and motherboards?

Using a PCIe Interface perhaps, Why are we still on the ancient Lan standard when we can use Optical Cables for much longer connections Without loss of signal, Maybe routers that Send and recieve optical Signal instead of Ethernet electric signal. The problem of Being at a really long distance from the routers would go away in schools hospitals etc,

Optical solution just seems way better to me, And it works with routers and isp ports, i don't understand why we're not using it for PC motherboards.
