My Experience with QC Ultra Gen 2 After 3 Days – Impressed and Disappointed

Headphones

I recently bought the QC Ultra Gen 2, and I have mixed feelings. For context, I’ve been a long-term user of: • ATH-M50x (10 years, PC use) •Pixel Buds Pro (2+ years) •Jabra office headphones (2+ years)

  • I’ve also used my ex's AirPods Max on ipad (too heavy and uncomfortable for me).

Intended Use: Pixel phone, Ipad and windows PC/laptop. Phone + music/podcasts/audiobooks during commute, phone and iPad during travel, p hone and office laptop at home/office. Max usage: 2–3 hours straight at 60–70 dB.

What I Like: •ANC is fantastic – I don’t need to crank up the volume to enjoy full sound. •Premium feel – leather and build quality are top-notch.

What I Dislike:

  1. The Bose Music app experience is disappointing:
  2. App doesn’t open from the notification bar.
  3. Multipoint is enabled, but it won’t switch automatically.
  4. In the device list, I can’t select another device to output audio.
  5. Controls: Only two buttons and a non-feedback slider make basic tasks (switching devices, changing tracks, ANC modes) feel like jumping through hoops.

I might get used to the controls, but will issues 1, 2, and 3, 4 be fixed soon? These seem like software problems. It’s surprising because my other headphones (Pixel Buds, Jabra) work so smoothly. I expected Bose to lead in tech, but the experience feels behind.

Decision time: I’m curious—does anyone know if Bose plans to improve these in future updates? Or should I consider alternatives like Sony XM6, which seems to handle multipoint and app integration better?

Or just stick to earbuds. Easy to travel with and does most of the stuff I want.
