threw my first big party (50+ people) and here's what i wish i knew about rsvps

honestly the hardest part wasn't the venue or the food or the playlist - it was getting people to actually confirm they're coming lol

i set a deadline two weeks out, sent reminders, even texted people individually. still had like 40% of my list as "no response" three days before. ended up with way more people showing up than confirmed which was its own chaos

few things that helped:

  • sending the invite super early (like 6 weeks out) so it's on people's radar
  • making rsvp literally one click, no login required (used envelope .so for this, free tier worked fine)
  • following up in group chats not just the formal invite
  • accepting that some people will just show up unannounced anyway

anyone else deal with rsvp ghosting? feels like it's gotten worse post-covid or maybe people just hate committing to things now. also how do you handle that?
