How to melt chocolate compunds in a liquid like consistency on a stove?

Hi Everyone, I've ruined a very nice receipe cause I couldn't melt chocolate compunds in desired consistency. I kept adding oil as suggested but it has ruined my hot chocolate taste a well which was btw perfect before mixing the two.

I really need to know how to melt chocolate compound shavings in a liquid consistency. I already placed it in a double boiler medium heat. But is there anything else that could help? Should the shavins be very thin and small to be melted perfectly?
