Discuss a random idea for cleaner simracing

Discussion

Recently I've been thinking of potential ways to make the simracing cleaner in general.

Considering that IRL races are A LOT cleaner than simracing, even when there's actual stakes and big money to be earned for podiums there must be some significant differences that make it so.

The biggest differences are ofc obvious, being:

  1. IRL you risk your health and life each time you crash.
  2. IRL every crash has significant economical consequences.

Option 1 can't be translated well to simracing (maybe by making all players' residence addresses public :D).

Option 2 can be translated to simracing and could potentially even improve the immersion.

So let's focus on discussing the option 2. And to be perfectly clear, I'm not even thinking about IRL economical consequences, but only in-game economical consequences.

Main characteristics of the model:

  1. Each time your car gets damaged in ranked series you need to repair it.

  2. Car damage is semi-permanent and carry through races (but not seasons).

  3. You need to pass tech inspection to run a race.

  4. Car repairs cost "money".

  5. You get limited repair "money" per car/series.

  6. Successful protests refund the repair money.

What do you think about such a concept? I know it could have many negative effects and would need to be a lot fleshed out and balanced in terms of actual rules and values, but I'm interested in finding out what the community would feel about such a thing/how they'd improve it.
