Jerome Powell gave the impression that he had issued a warning shot during (his) most recent remarks.
In his comments, he indicated that, notwithstanding the decrease in inflation, that it had not diminished sufficiently to enable the Federal Reserve to lower interest rates in the near term.
Immediately following the speech, the usual turmoil was resumed:
• an increase in value of the US dollar, and
• a decrease in the value of gold.
• a turnaround in the stock market and
• a loss of momentum in cryptocurrencies.
What stood out from Powell’s statements was (the) level of confidence he expressed on the healing of inflation.
It (this) sentence shifted the expectations of (that) the markets.
Therefore, the key question is:
Is he preparing the market for an extended period of higher interest rates, or is he preparing the market for the unknowns that may be around the corner?
I’d love to know what your opinion is. Has your perspective changed? Or do you consider his comments to be more of the same?
