Would a “lore-accurate” warrior use the magic?

I’m essentially just wondering what people think about a classic warrior still using basic spells? Idk if in the elder scrolls, magic is considered really difficult or not because you kinda just eat books and learn. Also you start the game with basic spells that seem like things everyone would for sure learn yet you never see people using them in game.
