Canadian grandmother + partner
Greetings, all! I am new to this community, so please forgive me if I am asking a question that has been answered a million times before. I am an American by birth, whose maternal grandmother was born in Canada and immigrated to the U.S. in the early 1950s when she was in her late teens. Her family history in Canada is well-documented back to the 17th century. In addition, my partner of 10+ years is a native-born Canadian citizen. We are registered partners, but not technically married. We do not currently reside in Canada or the U.S. I have always been proud of my Canadian heritage and have maintained some contact with that side of the family, but I have only spent brief stints there (the longest being 5 months). Unfortunately, my mother is not as invested in her heritage, and she has no interest in obtaining Canadian citizenship. With the recent passage of C-3, do I have a path to citizenship? Thanks to everyone in advance for your input!
