x265 vs x264 quality

If you have two files one is x264 and the other is x265 for 1080p, and a bdrip for arguments sake. If the x265 is larger in size even though it should have better compression would you say is better quality?

Is there any reason to opt for x264 if all your devices can support direct play with x265?
