Should I close my oldest credit card?

Help Needed/ Question

Hi everyone,

I'm in a bit of a dilemma regarding my oldest credit card and seeking advice from those with more experience.

Here are the cards I currently own:

  • ICICI Amazon Pay: Used for Amazon purchases, utilities, and gold purchases
  • HSBC Live+: My main card. Used for groceries, dining out, food delivery, and other general offline/online payments
  • AU Ixigo: Got it mainly for zero forex transactions (barely using it right now)
  • HDFC Freedom: My oldest card, but I've stopped using it this year

I got the HDFC Freedom card back in 2017. Over the years, I've only received a few small Credit Limit (CL) enhancements, and the last one was this June. For whatever reason, HDFC is simply not offering me any upgrades or better card offers (like the Millennia or Regalia). Now, I'm seriously considering closing the HDFC Freedom card.

The only thing stopping me is that it is my oldest credit card. All my other cards are not even one year old yet. What should I do in this situation? Should I close the card that isn't providing value, or keep it open just for the credit history length?
