Switching mortgage brokers in Ontario

I've been with the same mortgage broker 20+ years who served me well before and after my divorce. He was fantastic but he's retired and handed my account to his nephew who I've lost confidence in. Because my renewal/refinance is a relatively small amount, I don't feel this kid is putting much time into it and he just came back to me with a bank commitment that's no where near what we discussed nor what I wanted. I can't even get him on the phone to discuss it. The clock is ticking, and I'm thinking of finding another broker but what's the etiquette here? Do I just start calling around and ask a new one to take my renewal/refinance on and if they bring me a better deal, call the old guy and terminate the relationship?
