As per request, tested the Lenovo Legion 170w gan charger with my Legion 7 pro RTX 5080.

In short, the performance was wild. I definitely recommend it. It powered the laptop throughout the entirety of the benchmarks run and battery % wasn’t degraded at all. Although, at the end of the tests, the charger was warm to the touch, which is, of course, to be expected when running heavy tests like Timespy, Steel Nomad, Cinebench 2024 and Aida64 system stability tests. Plus, I ran the tests back to back, meaning no time to cool the laptop in-between tests. This was done to maximize the load on the charger, and it kept up.

Another point to note is that the laptop doesn’t go over Balanced mode on this charger, so all tests were run in Balanced mode. This is great IMO cos the fans were absolutely whisper quiet during the AIDA64 10 minute test. It did ramp up a bit during the other tests though but was still relatively quiet, definitely can use in a library or office. Oh, and by the way, I set “Silent Performance” ON in the bios. Definitely recommend turning it ON.
