Beat Lost Lace With every Crest
So I beat the game about a month ago, and I’ve 100%-ed another save file minus two mementos, but I’m not someone who mixes up with play styles, I’m a hunter main who sticks to ascendant’s grip and injector band like glue, so I thought this would be a fun challenge, and I was right! It was a great way to spend my evening, here are some fun notes:
- the only one I didn’t really have fun with was Reaper, I know it has its fans but I really love how fast this game is and it kinda just felt like a slower, less exhilarating version of my other fights, and the bind isn’t that amazing
- the wanderer was actually super fun, the few times I had tried it out before I hated how short the range was (plus I didn’t want to cling too closely to the Knight’s style) but when I combined it with the weighted belt the range wasn’t an issue. As I said I love speed, and this one’s absolutely perfect for that, I beat her first try with this one
- the beast was the one I was dreading the second most, which is interesting because on paper I’m kind of built for it, I have a very aggressive player, I’ll usually throw myself at enemies and ask questions later, but I really like the security of the normal bind, and the slash felt a bit slow. It took me a few tries, but the weighted belt helped me get close, and my aggressive muscle memory really payed off
- Witch is the one I was least excited for by far, I always get unlucky with the slash shape, and the heal is just an even more annoying beast crest, especially for a quick and small boss like Lace. It took me a few tries, but eventually I got really good at strategic healing, which was helped by the use of the mirrors tool
- The Architect was actually a lot trickier than I thought it’d be, but in hindsight I should’ve seen that coming because I hardly use red tools. It took me a few rounds to figure out the trifecta was Cogflies Tacks and the flint slate (plus poison of course), and eventually I was able to get a grip on the drill attack. Big downside is I ran out of shell shards, so I had to make a trip up
- the shaman crest wasn’t one I dreaded too badly but it ended up being the hardest, if not a big skill user and I really rely on mid-air healing, so this play style felt extremely unnatural to me. I also had trouble with the range-slashes, I would either treat it like a normal strike or a ranged attack, and it’s really neither. I had to learn to be evasive, and sharp dart was my friend when I hit up close. Volt filament was naturally a must
In conclusion, I’ll probably still be a hunter main for the dlc but this was a fun challenge, and I think I’ll have to give wanderer and Shaman a bit more attention moving forward!
