Loving Heated Rivalry? BL May Be For You - And There Are More Shows!

Really quickly (and please be kind, I’m not an expert)…

There’s gay fiction for the lgbtqia community and there’s gay fiction for… not necessarily the lgbtqia community (it’s typically straight women). You may already know that.

Gay fiction for not the lgbtqia community has been around for years, which is great news if you’re a fan of it and want more. It’s called Boys Love (BL), and there are people with strong feelings about whether this should exist or not. This post is not intending to get into that.

If you are enjoying Heated Rivalry, there are some other paid and unpaid services to get you more shows. Most of these will give you the first episode to watch for free, and then you need to pay for the service. In the US, I know of:

Netflix - Has a small variety of gay and BL content. I’m sure you’ve seen recommendations for these already, so I won’t go into that.

Viki (Rakuten) - a variety of Asian series with a good backlog of recent BL tv series, very few currently airing series. Fabulous subtitles.

IQIYI - a variety of Asian shows with a large backlog of recent BL tv series. Many currently airing shows. Subtitles are a bit censored.

Gagaoolala - Gay, Lesbian, BL, Queer tv series and movies only, from all over the world (with a Japanese-heavy content list). Currently airing, recent, and older titles can be found here.

Tencent (WeTV) - a variety of recent and currently airing Asian tv series. Difficult to navigate (in my opinion) unless you know what you’re looking for. YMMV.

Also, there are lots of people over on r/boyslove who can point you in the right direction if you’re looking for where to start or wanting recommendations with either what to watch or what to read.
