Is gas inspection really mandatory every year? Or is my distributor scamming? (Bharat Gas).
I need some clarification about Bharat Gas (Bharat Petroleum LPG) inspections.
I already completed the official safety inspection in 2024, but recently I got a call saying the inspection is mandatory every year. What happens is They charge ₹240 for “inspection” and then try to add ₹1,000+ for hose/regulator/parts, even if everything is fine.
I checked online and found mixed information — some say inspection is required every 2 years, some say 5 years, but nowhere does it say it’s annual. The caller refused to give any official guideline or document.
So my questions are:
-
Is inspection actually mandatory?
-
If yes, what’s the official frequency? (2 years? 5 years?)
-
Are there official BPCL prices for regulators, hoses, etc.?
-
Can we refuse the inspection if it was recently done?
-
Are we allowed to buy replacement parts ourselves instead of paying inflated prices?
The whole process feels like a routine scam where they charge everyone the same ₹1,000+ every time.
Has anyone dealt with this? Any official source or clarification would help a lot.
