New to furry stuff. Hi!
Hello! I'm 26 (they/them or he/they) and while I've made furry style art for years I never really considered myself a furry due to the vitriol and misinformation online/irl. I've started to really think about the label and other people's opinions seem to hold less weight the older I become lol.
Anyway, I'm seriously considering trying to make my own fursuit from scratch and had some questions. Is it better to do suit pants or just ankles/shoes? I just worry about getting overheated easily at cons. (Also never been to a furry specific con. Is it worth it?) And is it normal to have your character wearing clothes? My original design has him in a short sleeve polo, v neck sweater vest and khaki capris/shorts to show off the leg fur and paws. Think Academia/professor vibes. For the head piece I wanted to buy a skull base off Etsy and add foam and felt it. Anyone done something similar? One last question, I promise: Is it easier to buy prop glasses for your character or to make them? I'm looking for a specific type of glasses but I can't seem to find it sold anywhere or they are just too tiny. its those little round ones that sit on the nose that old men in cartoons/or on old Santa decorations.
Thank you for reading this whole mess 😅
