Thoughts on the EV market for tuks & bikes in Sri Lanka

Serious replies only

Hey everyone, I wanted to get some real-world opinions and experiences about the EV market here, especially for EV three-wheelers (tuks) and EV motorbikes.

I’ve been doing some research, and while the interest is growing, a lot of people still seem hesitant to switch. The main concerns I keep hearing are: • Battery lifespan & replacement cost • Charging infrastructure • Reliability in long-term use • After-sales support • Resale value • Power/torque compared to petrol vehicles • Fear of new tech in general

For anyone who has already bought or tested an EV tuk or bike…or works in the industry. I’d love to know: 1. What’s the biggest hesitation for buyers right now? 2. How do current EV tuks/bikes actually perform day-to-day? 3. Are running costs really as low as advertised? 4. Is the charging network improving or still too limited? 5. Do you see the market growing in the next 1–2 years, or do you think it’s still too early? 6. What brands/models seem most promising? 7. If you haven’t bought one, what would convince you to switch?

I’m trying to understand where the bottlenecks really are and how fast the EV adoption curve is moving in Sri Lanka. Any insights…positive or negative, would be super helpful.

Thanks in advance! 🙌
