Me and my wife cried today over phone usage. This is our new plan (advice wanted)
Me and my wife are both addicted to our phones to the point we don’t even watch movies/tv shows because when we out on Netflix, we are just scrolling and not even following the plot. A relative sent me some photos of me as a child/teen and I broke down thinking wow my life was better back then because I was smart, creative and had actual hobbies (I used to play sport 5 days a week). I had an actual personality but now I’m just after my next dopamine hit. My wife cried when I told her this and she too wants to quit using her phone so today we have deleted every single social media app (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X) and only left the essentials like banking, weather and messenger to contact relatives). We have also canceled our Spotify subscriptions and we are wondering if there’s an mp3 player that’s not too expensive but is still good quality with no screen? We just want music on it nothing else.
We have also compiled a list of hobbies we can do and so far we have decided on jigsaw puzzles, going for a walk around the lake in our town and she wants to take up yoga. Is there any time frame for when will feel better? We are already bracing for dopamine withdrawals.
