Is it still worth investing in an EV charging station on a highway? Market seems to be shifting
I’m considering setting up an EV charging station along a highway near Cartman Park, but I’m having second thoughts after doing some market research. Here’s what’s making me hesitate: 1. EV sales growth is slowing - The year-over-year numbers don’t look as strong as they did a few years ago. The exponential growth seems to have cooled off. 2. Hybrids are gaining more traction - More vehicles are coming with hybrid options, which gives people better range and fuel efficiency without needing to rely solely on charging infrastructure. This kind of erodes EVs’ main selling point of being “cheaper in the long run.” 3. Maruti entering the hybrid space - I read somewhere that Maruti is planning to launch hybrid vehicles in the next 1-2 years (though I’m not 100% certain on this). If true, this could further shift consumer preference toward hybrids over pure EVs.
Given all this, I’m wondering if now is the right time to invest in EV charging infrastructure, especially on a highway route. The initial investment is significant, and I’m concerned about whether there will be enough demand to make it viable.
For those who have been following the EV market or have experience with charging stations - what do you think? Where is the market actually headed? Am I overthinking this, or are these legitimate concerns?
Would appreciate any insights. Thanks!
