hormonal birth control for period cramps?

ive always had possibly the worst case of period cramps. things improved massively when i moved out of delhi. now that i am back, so is the pain. since last two months, my cramps have made a comeback, although theres something different about them.

i went to the gyno after last time, got ultrasound done, everything is normal. she prescribed me hormonal contracepives. i am a little scared of them bc ive seen the long list of side effects some of them have. even though she reassured me that i wont have to deal with any major side effects, i am still skeptical.

ive read online, a lot of people seem to have their life back once they found what worked for them. i wanted to ask indian women specifically. please let me know what your experience has been. i am so sick of not feeling my 100% for two whole weeks.
