Where did jeremy go in season 7?

I'm watching season 7 for the first time and i realized that Michael trevino (Tyler) is now a guest star but at least he shows up. What i don't understand is: where the hell is jeremy? The last time i remember seeing jeremy was in season 6 when bonnie came back from the prison world and I'm geniunely confused as to why the writers completely gave up on him and his relationship with bonnie.
