After completing stage 5 of the expedition do we need another 5 mil in assets for all the skill points, or does it count assets invested from stage 5?

I was under the impression we needed a whole another 5 mil in assets to get the full 5 skill points after we complete stage 5 of the expedition but then I saw this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/ArcRaiders/comments/1phc3kq/does_this_expedition_total_value_trick_actually/

Apparently you can see your whole stash + coins value by setting your system time forward, but more interestingly, the progress bar shows completion at 3 mil, which makes me wonder if we only need another 3mil because it counts our investment from stage 5?

Been trying to find answers for this, but there's almost nothing (that I could find). Hoping someone else can shed some light on this.
