Why should I even use public transit in this city?
Ever boarded the train and find out that you're subject to a delay, because the bus dropped you one minute late? You could try taking the early bus, and be way too early. Or you were just caught out by a darned rail disruption.
It's been years that the "more services more often" campaign has been used to wash us with a following, getting us to trust and believe that something will really be done to address and fix this system. It isn't really that hard to fix it either. A bus reform was proposed recently, complete with slogans and routing, even a cost estimate. But the government turned it down without a single look.
In the grand scheme of infrastructure shenanigans, there are rail bridges on my line that keep getting run into. There’s trespassers at Holmesglen. Trucks get hit by trains. There's track faults. Signal faults. There's 15 minute waits between Richmond and Flinders. For such a pro infrastructure government how come this is still happening?
Each time I take public transit, and get abused by junkies, get betrayed with rail replacements and disruptions, I just really want to know why I should even take this useless system in the first place. This stupid system has almost gotten me fired twice and now I can not get promotions for the life of me. It has been the source of all the problems in my life, and all I ask is just more frequent services that actually line up and make sense.
No one else in my workplace takes the train. It’s the dumb option for an obvious reason anyways.
Because, why do I have to put up with so much compromise, just to not add to traffic?
Why should I even patronise this hopeless system?
