No Release on Steam

As a longtime Arknights Player I'm really hyped for Endfield to release and the PV Trailer with One Republic was great, however I'm disappointed that we won't get a release on Steam. I don't have a Epic Games account and i don't really want to make one, however it seems to me like the game will only be available in EpicStore on PC. What's your opinions on this? Or do any of you know if the PC release will be playable without Epic?
