One thing I’ve always struggled with in AI images is facial expressions. Most models can generate a face, but expressions often look frozen, exaggerated, or slightly off — especially when you try to push subtle emotions.

I’ve been testing **Nano Banana Pro on Higgsfield** specifically for this, and it’s the first setup where expressions started to feel intentional rather than accidental.

There *is* a small learning curve. Nano Banana Pro is very sensitive to how you describe emotion, so generic words like “happy” or “angry” don’t go very far. What worked better for me was describing expressions the way a photographer or director would, muscle tension, eye focus, mouth position, and even head tilt.

My rough workflow:

* Start with a neutral face as the base
* Add one emotion at a time (don’t stack multiple feelings)
* Describe subtle physical cues instead of emotion labels
* Keep lighting soft and consistent so shadows don’t distort the face

Once dialed in, the results were surprisingly realistic. Micro-expressions like slight smiles, thoughtful looks, or restrained tension come through much more naturally compared to other tools I’ve tried. It also holds the expression better across multiple generations instead of drifting into something else.

It’s not perfect, but for portraits, character studies, or emotion-driven visuals, Nano Banana Pro finally feels reliable enough to use in a real workflow.

Curious how others here handle expressions, are you prompting emotions directly or describing facial mechanics instead?
