Anyone else miss Derek?

Just finished rereading the Wilmington series and KD before that and I just want to know if Derek is ok.

I don’t really care if he’s with Julie tbh. I’ve read Blood heir once previously and it did not hit the same - so I don’t remember much.

During KD he seemed as genuine and wholesome as a messed up KD universe side character could be. Loved his violent overprotectiveness, loyalty to a fault, the bonding moments with Kate, the banter rivalry with Ascanio etc. Then in Wilmington he’s just not there. Kate and Curran -especially- are his family and he’s absolutely loyal we know that. What happened?

I guess I’ll just have to pretend he eventually has a reunion with the Lennarts and tells them about his adventures and HEA. I’m not sold that it’s with Julie. But whatever it is, it’s as some amazing kickass super educated shape shifter assassin alpha with loyal friends and filled the love he deserves. End rant. Sigh.
