Why is this Pokémon team so bad?
Hi everyone, how’s it going? I’m a fully casual Pokémon player, so I don’t have much technical knowledge for harder ROM hacks. I’m playing on Normal difficulty with perfect EVs, and I tried to build a team based on the best defensive typings with as few weaknesses as possible.
However, the Pokémon I caught who theoretically have some of the best defensive types feel incredibly weak. I can’t get past Misty or my rival. I usually manage to defeat most of their Pokémon, but I always fall short on the last one and end up losing.
My playstyle is very straightforward: I just use the strongest move of each type and don’t focus on strategies like boosting Speed, Attack, or Defense, or lowering the opponent’s stats.
So why is this team performing so poorly? Even on Normal difficulty, am I forced to use very specific Pokémon just to win? I’d really like to understand why this happens, especially from someone who has technical knowledge of how the game actually works.
