Should I get a 2nd opinion?

I went to the ER yesterday morning for what I personally think is tonsillitis. They told me after 5 hours of waiting in some of the worst pain I've had in a while that "it's some kind of virus" and gave me a prescription for 1 single dose of steroids that I can't even fill until later today. They told me to just take Tylenol and ibuprofen and to let it run it's course.

Here's my issue with that. Since Thanksgiving I've had an on/off fever with a headache, that's completely gone now. In fact, I was perfectly fine for about two days before this all happened (I've had the throat issues for about 3 days but it got bad enough to need the ER)

I took some ibuprofen last night and it worked wonders. However now it's came back 10x worse and ibuprofen doesn't work now. I don't have Tylenol.

The spots on my tonsils are turning black on one side, and the other side is almost completely encrusted with white spots and something "plaque-ish" I cannot drink water in any way whatsoever without wanting to crumple to the floor, I cannot swallow anything due to the pain. Breathing is a chore because it feels like hot knives being dragged across my tonsils. I've taken well about the recommended dosage for ibuprofen in 24 hours and it's not doing anything anymore.

Numbing sprays and throat candies numb everywhere except my throat. On top of all this I've had to work thru every day of my illness, even when I had the fever so I can't get rest either. What do I do??
