ended up in an ambulance and hospital.
for the past few years, pre-covid19, ive dealt with some slight off-balance issues with rapid eye/head movement, rapid changes in elevation (like elevators or those dips on some highways) and it has persisted, i have good days and bad days, but nothing thats ever overly worried me. so ive had some familiarity with BPPV but was never diagnosed. so about 3 days ago, i had this situation where i was pumping gas and noticed someone running directly to my right side in my peripheral vision. i turned my head so fast to see what they were doing, i started feeling some slight spinning right away, i had to sit down, it lasted about 2-3 seconds and went away. i went home and about my day. ive also started some bp meds very recently and chalked this up to the adjustment period for a new medicaton. the next day, i plopped myself down on the couch laying down and the room started spinning, this was the most intense dizzy spell ive ever had it was liek those days as a kid, spinning in a chair, again, i told myself this was the medication. the next thing is what scared me enough to call for help, i could not sit up without falling over immediately, every time i attempted it, my vision would spin and i would fall over and it would take a few seconds laying down before it would stop. i was kinda terrified, i really didnt have any idea what was happening, my initial reaction was that im having a bad reaction to the medication. paramedics came and they ran a few tests, vitals were fine except BP reading was too high they recommended i trip to the hospital. i think the paramedic ran about 4 bp tests before it dipped down to just "slightly elevated." i did a bunch more tests there at the hospital. ekg, orthostatic bp, bloodwork. and outside of dehydration, they didnt see anything with those tests that would indicate something that would cause my dizziness. dr finally got me to sit up and stand. he did some head turning, arm and leg movement stuff. another dr even said the high BP reading wasnt too much of a concern as these situations tend to stress people out. anyway i was ultimately released after like 7 hours with a case of BPPV, a prescription for meclilzine, and some instructions on how to perform the epley manuever. after everything i guess i was a bit relieved and i know im gonna get a huge medical bill sometime.
im wondering if bppv, vertigo has any correlation to posture, im almost certain i deal with some "tech neck" issues. i catch myself slumping from time to time and i feel like it contributes to my offbalance feelings. has anyone worked on their posture and experienced positive results when it comes to vertigo? i have a lot of tension in my neck as well.
