What's up with Three Kingdoms

So recently I bought TW Three Kingdoms cuz of the sale. It's my 4th Total War game (Napoleon Medieval 2 and Rome 2). But like, why is the troop menu during a battle so weird. I'm used to being able to easily see what is what and how many troops each unit has. Instead, Three Kingdoms uses colors (which is also kinda unclear) and other complicated stuff. Am I just being dumb or is this like an unpopular part of the game
