have had a crush on my bsf for years

I’ve had a crush on my best friend for years now. When we met in school he was openly gay and the new kid so i became friends with him although i wasn’t out then. He was basically a femboy and would talk about how he dressed up. We became close and about a year later we were with our friend group and talking about our crushes when he said his first crush when he came to town was me. After that we were still friends as i didn’t wanna say anything but during that time he’d do things like put his hand on my thighs and stuff like that “as a joke” i’m guessing but he’d never address it. but then another year later till now he’s claimed to be straight and found god. He’s still my one of my closest friends but can you really go from gay to straight? I love him and don’t know how to get over this crush.
